Best Trade Shows for Hospitality Designers to Attend, Part 1: Casinos

In the hospitality industry there is no shortage of trade shows to attend; it can almost feel overwhelming at times. But as any designer, or vendor, knows -- you want to make sure attendance is worth your while.

Quite literally, this means that the connections you make and the leads you generate are worth more to your business than the travel expenses, registration expenses, marketing/ promotional expenses, and other funds you pump into the trade show.

Hospitality Trade Shows to Focus On

Due to the sheer inundation of opportunities to attend hospitality trade shows, we’ve compiled a list of all the ones you don’t want to miss -- in our opinion, of course.

This list focuses specifically on casino hospitality trade shows and conferences in North America that we believe are worth your time, money, and effort to attend.

Indian Gaming Tradeshow and Convention

Where it is: San Diego Convention Center -- San Diego, California

When it is: April 1-4, 2019

Why you don’t want to miss it:

The Indian Gaming Tradeshow and Convention (affectionately called NIGA by those in the industry, after it’s parent organization The National Indian Gaming Association) is the longest running gaming trade show in history -- making it a can’t miss event for hospitality designers.

It is considered the be the largest gathering of tribal leaders and casino executives in the country, where those in the Indian gaming community can network, learn, and exchange industry-specific ideas.

As a designer, it is the perfect opportunity to get your foot in the door with big-name casino organizations, as well as smaller casinos who are exhibiting at the tradeshow. The show is supported by the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers, further solidifying it’s spot as the tradeshow to attend for hospitality designers.

Canadian Gaming Summit

Where it is: Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

When it is: 2019 dates TBD

Why you don’t want to miss it:

Both the conference and the exhibition hold immense networking opportunities with Canadian casino industry members. The summit features an array of speakers and exhibitors, helping designers get their foot in the door throughout the industry.

Additionally, each year a focus is placed on educating attendees on industry trends, operations, and more. This year’s exhibition offered information on “Non-Gaming Amenities” -- offering hospitality designers the perfect talking point throughout the summit.

One of the most awesome features of the summit is the golf tournament. This unique event offers an opportunity for informal networking that is not often seen at most trade shows, conferences, and conventions.

How to register:

Unfortunately, the 2018 show just came and went -- so you won’t be able to attend this year! But the show is well worth the wait.

2019 registration forms have not been released yet, but the link to the registration page on the website can be found here!
